Apps for Good Summer 2024 – Online Program

Apps for Good is a project-based learning online program that brings together college students to develop mobile apps aimed at driving positive social change. Student teams select from real-world project proposals and receive access to resources, mentorship, and guidance to take their app ideas from concept to launch.

Join forces with students from other universities to form teams and collaborate on building an app with a social impact. Teamup will provide access to computing resources, design tools, and technical mentors to empower you to bring these transformative ideas to life. Your apps will serve nonprofits, small businesses, schools, universities, and other organizations looking for custom software solutions for their operations.

Mentors will advise you through the full software development lifecycle – from planning and programming to iteration, testing, and final product release. You will gain hands-on experience building real-world apps while adhering to professional software engineering standards.

What is the timeline?

Friday, March 1st, 2024: Applications Open

Students can submit applications to join the Summer 2024 cohort.

Friday, April 5th, 2024: Applications Close

Last day to submit an application for the program.

Monday, April 15th, 2024: Applicants Notified

Accepted students will receive notification of being selected for the program.

Monday, May 20th, 2024: Kickoff Event

• The Summer 2024 cohort will officially begin with a kickoff event
• Students will meet their teammates, choose a project, and get started

August 19 – 23: Launch Week

• Final app presentations and launches happen this week.
• Teams demo their completed apps and make them publicly available.
• The Summer cohort concludes with a wrap-up event
• Students reflect on their journey and celebrate their achievements.
